Question 1

What is Linguova and how does it work?

Accepted Answer

Linguova is an online language centre. We offer one-to-one courses, run exclusively online, with qualified and native-speaking teachers. You sign up, take a free placement test, receive a personalised plan, and start lessons at your own pace.

Question 2

Does Linguova have a physical location in Bucharest?

Accepted Answer

No. Linguova operates entirely online, giving you maximum flexibility. You learn from home, from the office, or from wherever you have an internet connection.

Question 3

What languages can I learn at Linguova?

Accepted Answer

We offer courses in 8 languages: English, French, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, Thai, and Romanian for expats.

Question 4

Are courses one-to-one or in a group?

Accepted Answer

All Linguova courses are one-to-one, with your teacher. Every lesson is built entirely around your needs and goals.

Question 5

Can I take lessons together with a friend or someone I know?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you and a friend, colleague, or family member want to learn the same language together, you can form a mini-group of 2-3 people. Lessons still run online and the content is tailored to the group's shared level and goals. Get in touch for details on availability and mini-group pricing.

Question 6

How long is a session?

Accepted Answer

We offer two session lengths: 60 minutes and 90-100 minutes, depending on the language. You choose whichever fits your rhythm and schedule best.

Question 7

Can both me and my child take courses at Linguova?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Linguova offers courses for both adults and children, starting from age 4. Programmes are separate and adapted to each age group.

Question 8

How often should I have lessons?

Accepted Answer

We recommend at least 2 lessons per week for steady, visible progress. With 3-4 lessons a week, you'll advance significantly faster. Frequency is flexible and you work it out together with your teacher.

Question 9

Can I change my teacher if we're not a good fit?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Being comfortable with your teacher is essential for progress. If the chemistry isn't there, let us know and we'll find a solution together.

Question 10

I don't know any of the language. Can I start from zero?

Accepted Answer

Definitely. Our courses start at A1 level with no prior knowledge needed. Many of our learners have started from exactly there.

Question 11

How do I know what level I am?

Accepted Answer

After you fill in a short form on the site, we send you a free placement test by email. We review your results and send back your recommended CEFR level and an initial action plan.

Question 12

Is the placement test free?

Accepted Answer

Yes, completely free and with no obligation to enroll afterwards.

Question 13

What are the course prices?

Accepted Answer

Prices vary depending on the language and session length. English, French, and Romanian for expats start from 145 ron per 60-minute session. Asian languages and Arabic start from 165 ron per session. The full breakdown is in the Pricing section.

Question 14

Are there discounts for packages?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer packages of 5 and 10 sessions at reduced rates compared to single sessions. The larger the package, the more you save.

Question 15

How do I pay?

Accepted Answer

Payment is made by bank transfer. Account details are shared after your enrolment is confirmed.

Question 16

Can I pause a package and pick it up later?

Accepted Answer

We don't offer package freezing, but every package comes with a generous validity window: the 5-session package is valid for 2 months, and the 10-session package for 4 months. Sessions can be rescheduled for free if you give at least 24 hours' notice. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, the session is counted as used.

Question 17

Can you prepare me for Cambridge, DELF, JLPT, TOPIK, or HSK?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Exam preparation is included in the standard course at no extra cost. Your teacher tailors the lesson plan to the exam you're targeting and the date you're aiming for.

Question 18

How far can you prepare me for Cambridge?

Accepted Answer

We prepare for all Cambridge levels, from A2 Key all the way up to C2 Proficiency.

Question 19

Where do the exams take place?

Accepted Answer

Exams are taken at authorised centres in Romania. Linguova handles the preparation and exam registration is done separately through the official authorised centres in Bucharest or other cities.

Question 20

What are Linguova workshops?

Accepted Answer

Workshops are themed group sessions, organised periodically, both online and in person. They're a different, more hands-on way to practise the language through culture, activities, and conversation in a small group.

Question 21

Do I need to be a Linguova student to join a workshop?

Accepted Answer

No. Workshops are open to everyone, whether or not you're a current Linguova learner.

Question 22

How do I sign up for a workshop?

Accepted Answer

Every workshop has its own page on the site with all the details: date, format, language, fee, and a sign-up button. Spots are limited and go in order of registration.
